Let's Sing!

Yes, it's true - we are singing English songs!

This the next presentation for both TakeAway 1 and 3 classes. We are going to choose songs and sing them in front of the class!

Guidelines:
  • Choose a song in English. No children's songs, but songs from most Disney movies are okay. Pop songs, rock, folk - any genre should be fine.
  • I recommend songs with a slow tempo. These should be easier to sing.
  • Choose a song that's at least 2 - 3 minutes long.
  • Try NOT to choose a song that other people in the class are singing!
  • Once you know what you want to sing, you'll need some lyrics. Google searches are the best way to find lyrics for pretty much anything!
  • See if your song is on YouTube (it probably is). You can use the YouTube video or an mp3 file to provide background music when you sing.
  • You can sing with partners, but each student should sing for 1 - 2 minutes.
  • Don't worry about your singing talent! It's more important that you try to clearly pronounce the lyrics, so that classmates can hear & understand you.
  • You will be scored based on Effort, Pronunciation, and Clarity.
  • We'll have the presentations on April 2, 3, and 4.

About the Teacher & the Course

Welcome to Practical English Conversation

Instructor:

          Christopher Edwards

          Office 28 - 205

          cedwards AT naver DOT com

About the Instructor:

Hello, my name is Chris (크리스), and I will be your instructor for this course. I came to Korea from Canada in 2002, and I have been teaching English for the last 12 years.

I live with my pretty wife and our wonderful little sons in our apartment close to Youngsan University. I enjoy hiking, traveling, and meeting my friends in Busan. My wife likes to play tennis and watch movies. Sometimes we travel together to other countries and interesting places.

About the Course:

You will get chances to speak to your classmates and your teacher in English. There will be activities, games, conversations, and role plays to help you improve your speaking and pronunciation.

Your attitude is the most important thing in this course. You can only learn to speak by speaking, loud and often! As you practice speaking, you will become more confident. Don’t worry too much about grammar and sentence structure – mistakes are natural!

I hope you will do your best. Be here on time, every class. Read ahead in the textbook before class. Keep your notes neatly organized. Ask questions. Help your classmates. If you can do all of these things, you will get a great score in this course!
